My name is Krista Pischner. I grew up in a little Northern Michigan town, Charlevoix, where I spent my summers growing and watering veggies in our family garden. During those summers my mom taught me how to cook, and after reading through and making several recipes from my vintage and hand-me-down cookbook collection, she still makes a better spaghetti than me!

I moved to Grand Rapids, MI in 2010 and studied Sociology & Studio Art at Aquinas College. I earned my BA in May 2015. I now work full time as a Program Coordinator at Artists Creating Together and part time as an Event Manager at Dime & Regal.

I also own and run KP Studio, a private live/work space located on the South Division corridor of Grand Rapids and am a member of Avenue for the Arts- a community focused on supporting the creative engagement between it’s members and merchants. KP Studio focuses product sales online, at Michigan shops and boutiques and local art markets. KP Studio products are inspired by gardening, cooking, fresh, sustainable and organic produce, a healthy lifestyle, and simple/minimalistic beauty we sometimes overlook. When focusing on farm to table communities my senior year of college, I started painting fruits and veggies in the studio and altering my diet in turn realizing how my body was changing for the better. After college I experimented with food illustrations and connected with a local screen printer who prints my illustrations on a variety of home decor and kitchen goods. Natural, sustainable, decorative and useful, are all things so important to me and my everyday life. If we surround ourselves with local, organic and sustainable products and food, we will live simpler and healthier lives.
